Each morning, over the course of a month, I'd pass a man on my daily commute who would be having an animated conversation with himself. I decided to follow him to see if this conversation was a coherent one, and discovered that it was - I just couldn't hear the other voice. The incident led me to research Dissociative Identity Disorder, and the idea was born from that exploration.
